09/24/2014 1:00 PM EDT - Perfect Exposure and Color for Landscape Photography: Why You Need the Sekonic L-758DR and X-Rite ColorChecker Passport

Today’s digital cameras are so advanced that every shot should be perfect – shouldn’t they? The reality is that though cameras continue to get more advanced, they still have no idea about the image they are capturing. They have +/- auto exposure overrides, flash overrides and color temperature presets. Why is that? Because the camera can only make a guess at what it is “seeing.”

The combination of the Sekonic L-758DR meter and X-Rite’s ColorChecker Passport eliminate guessing and provide you with the information you need for perfect exposure and color in your landscape photography.

Join host Joe Brady as he demonstrates how these tools will shorten editing time, provide more accurate color and keep you from losing highlight details - the payoff is a better Landscape Photography experience.

That would be a good question for Xrite. Joe has shown some use of the CCPP in Sekonic webinars. And more over at Xrite.com. Please check with them.

Another great webinar. I never leave home without my L-758DR and ColorChecker Passport. They have cut my editing time by at least 1/2. I look forward to more tips and tricks to using these tools. One question about filter compensation. Is it possible to expand the L-758DR to more than just 5 stops of compensation via a firmware update or something? Close

We have been discussing this with the Sekonic Engineers. And the possibility including higher ISO setting values. It is under study. Might be a while to see a firmware upgrade for this as they are busy with a new color meter. We will keep on them though. Close

Thanks. Of course the 758DR can make ambient light readings for any situation. When using it to read flash, it has a built-in transmitter that triggers PocketWizard brand radios using their frequency (340-354Mhz for North America, 433Mhz for Europe and other countries). The transmitter cannot trigger radio receivers that have a different frequency and/or cannot use the PocketWizard coded signal. Shorter answer: you need a PocketWizard receiver to take advantage of the 758DR transmitter. Close

Thanks Jo There is always one or two things that I pick up on each of you section and this one I did to. Yes I do like this format as I am in the UK and do not get to watch live. Just a quick question I am trying to Lee's big stopper and get colour casts i.e. 10 / 15 minuet exposures. Would the colour passport help. Close

Yes. The Passport enables recording standard colors that are then processed as these standard colors in Adobe software. Any color shifts added by your camera's processor will be corrected in post. You will find the results quite amazing. Close
